Mustard Greens?

You may have seen mustard greens at the store or even had a recipe calls for them, but what are Mustard Greens?

Mustard Greens Taste

People say that mustard greens generally have an earthy and peppery flavor. Some say it is similar to a radish. The leafy greens belong to the vegetable family and are related to Kale, Collard Greens, and Cabbage, and are indeed good eating. You may also hear them called Leaf Mustards. In fact, they are the leafy part of a Mustard plant. Most often you will see it used in Chinese, Japanese, or Indian dishes. They are nutritious, can be used in a variety of ways, and available in the winter months.

Mustard Greens contain calcium and vitamin K, along with cancer-fighting glucosinolates. The big secret is that these greens even pack 3 grams of protein per serving too!

Using Mustard Greens

Eating mustard greens has become more popular. People use it much in the same way they use spinach. You may find it in salads, juicing, or smoothies.

Recipes can be found where you boil, sauté, braise, or stew these greens. But be warned that they pack a bite even after being cooked.

One easy way to try is to sauté the Mustard Greens in olive oil with onions and garlic. Salt and pepper to taste and add a dash of sesame oil.
