Core Power

Your core muscles help control your posture and body position. They also move, support, and stabilize your spine. In addition, they help you pull, push, balance, and lift. Your general movement is made possible by the core.

The major muscles of your core include your transverse abdominis, multifidus, internal and external obliques, erector spinae, diaphragm, pelvic floor muscles, and your abs, the rectus abdominis. Your minor core muscles include your lats, traps, and your glutes. Your core is vital.

Here are a few moves to help build abdominal stabilization:

Boat pose

Plank

Side Planks

Side Plank Crunch

Knee to Arm Planks

Tabletop

Downward Facing Dog

Cat/Cow

Many creative Yoga vinyasa sequences build your core from the inside out; each pose becomes easier as you repeat and master the one before it.

Yoga may be the key you are missing that will benefit your core and impact your workouts. Many professional athletes are turning to yoga for strengthening and lengthening their muscles.

Yoga is considered one of the most beneficial workouts of all time for the body and the mind. Thankfully is has a powerful ability to help you work your core and find your center also.
