Vegetables Matter

Let’s Talk Veggies

Eat your vegetables! Isn’t that what you always heard growing up? Do you do that now? Do you have your children eating vegetables? What is the honest answer?

How many vegetables per day?

There is a misconception about how many veggies we need each day.

Assume that the number of veggies you need is 10 per day. Where do you stand on that? How many people would actually be getting that many? I would have to say probably not very many.

Eating Vegetables

Getting the veggies in your diet every day will result in your body looking and feeling better. Vegetables have the power to increase your energy naturally. They are loaded with vitamins and nutrients that you need. Your body wants this food.

Methods to Eat Veggies

Raw

Get your servings in eating raw vegetables as a snack or making a salad.

You can be very creative with fresh vegetable platters. They are excellent to bring to parties and make wiser choices with using some hummus or mashed avocado instead of creamy dips.

Salads can be an easy or complicated course. Use a few simple vegetables or load up. It is your choice. Remember to top it off with an olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing. It is a smarter choice you will benefit from having on salads.

Cooked or Steamed

Cooking or steaming veggies does not eliminate your intake of a small salad during a meal. Remember you are trying to up your intake.

Choosing your veggies to cook or steam

Remember to look for tastiest food. Some favorites of mine are carrots, spinach, zucchini, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, and kale. What do you like?

Steam the veggies or cook them in a pan with a small amount of olive oil or coconut oil. You can also bake some with your proteins that take on an incredible taste.

Juicing

Many people have jumped on the juicing wagon and make a smoothie daily. These are quick and easy to prepare. Some people used blenders while others buy juicers for this.

A simple juice recipe is a stalk of celery, half a cucumber, half an apple, some kale or spinach, and then experiment with adding a little orange or lemon or lime to the flavor.

Juice and go!

Make A Veggie Habit!

Set a goal to increase your veggies. Can you get to 10 servings a day? Work to include raw veggies and cooked ones, and take a walk on the juicing side. Good food and perfect for you.
